Amrum – Heute Gestern Erleben

Amrum – Heute Gestern Erleben

Overview

The North Sea island of Amrum is a site of particular archaeological interest. The project, 'Amrum - Gestern und Heute Erleben', is a collaboration between archaeologists from the ROOTS Cluster of Excellence in Kiel and the Master's in Interactive Information Design at the Muthesius University of Fine Arts. The group project aimed to introduce locals and tourists to the history of Amrum in a playful and interactive way. The results are a corporate design, a signage system and an interactive website and installation for the local museum. Each sign combines detailed information about local archaeological finds with a timeline overview and a guide to the interactive website. The opening in each sign creates a connection between the displayed information and the surrounding landscape. The project was presented at the Einblick Ausblick exhibition in 2025 and in December 2025 at the ADC Creative Club in Hamburg as part of the 'Get Real' series.
